Philip Kock,
Graduated 2000
"Living in another country is a great challenge."
The reason why I chose to study International Business and Management Studies at Fontys Hogeschool Marketing Management was that the regular Marketing course is mainly focussed on the " Dutch market. I wanted to study Marketing and gain international experience to get an international job in the future. The course looked challenging and fun and it seemed to offer good possibilities for the future. |

The internationally oriented courses that I followed during the last graduated 2000 three years were educational and fun to do. Learning by experience 'Living in another and self-tutoring are two main ingredients of the study. During the study a lot of case studies and projects have to be solved next to attending lectures. The teachers provide good coaching and one is always welcome to shoot some questions. The cases (learning by experience) we solved are a good preparation for the 'Real World'.
The real international experience came with a traineeship in a foreign country. Living in another country is a great challenge. Living abroad means: learning another language, getting to know other people and learning about their (business)culture. The half year abroad was a wonderful experience which has been very educational and mainly fun.
Another international experience is the many foreign students coming to Eindhoven to follow the International Business and Management study. Solving internationally oriented cases with foreign friends gives an extra dimension.
I have just graduated and started working for a Dutch oil-company. The international experience comes in handy. When approaching prospects and customers it is good to have a wide basis. It is r important to speak one or more foreign languages and know more about an international background. The fact that I speak German and English made me responsible for contacting and visiting prospects and customers in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland and the 'new' European countries. Within a very short time I have succeeded in finding a perfect job in an international setting. Just the thing I was looking for 3.5 years ago! |
