"Profit from employment markets across the world."
At the beginning of 1996 I started with my education at Fontys Hogeschool Marketing Management in Eindhoven. After the first year, I decided that I wanted to broaden my horizon internationally. The best way to do that was by joining the International Business and Management Studies programme, since such a course would give me the opportunity not only to study foreign markets, but actually get involved in them as well. |

My second reason for joining the programme was pure self-benefit. I argued that, since the Netherlands was such a small country, I needed something extra to be able to profit from employment markets across the world.
During my first business placement I worked and lived in Dublin, Ireland. During this placement I could bring the theory into practice in both the fields of marketing and management of cultural differences. Especially the latter is very important because Ireland is very different from the Netherlands, although it is relatively close by. This experience convinced me that as long as I was willing to adapt myself I would fit into any culture, and that is what really defines a good marketer.
My experiences during my four years at Fontys University of Professional Education in Eindhoven made i me decide that working around the world, with as ; many cultures as possible, was what I really wanted. Now that lam almost finishing the programme, I am searching for the best way to achieve my personal goals. I have two possibilities, either working for a Dutch company, waiting to be sent abroad or I could just pack my suitcases and go abroad myself. It is probably the latter that I will be doing. I will just pack everything I need and go to Ireland, which is a good starting point to especially the United States because a lot of American companies use Ireland as a jumping board to Europe. After having worked for a couple of years, and having gathered as much experience as possible, I hope to attend an MBA course in the USA, since that would be the most logical next step, as far as training is concerned.
I hope that I was able to convey my feelings about the International Business and Management Studies course to you and that you also will decide to take advantage of this great possibility that the Fontys University of Professional Education offers to you. I know that lam very lucky with the high quality education which I received at this institute and am sure that you will agree with me after joining the International Business , and Management Studies programme. |
