The programme is based on the educational principle of "learning to learn". Students learn how they can master new knowledge and skills in the field of marketing and management. If they succeed in "learning to learn" they will be able to keep up with new developments, also after graduating. They will be able to function on the long term in a learning society.

Professional perspectives
The International Business and Management Studies degree programme offers excellent opportunities in internationally operating companies. These can either be multinationals of Dutch origin or foreign companies operating in the Netherlands. Besides there are a great many possibilities to start a career in Munich, London, Barcelona or any other exciting place in the world.

The course has a broad scope, which offers you a wide range of professional perspectives. You can think of positions in the field of marketing and management, e.g. employee on an international marketing department, export manager, management trainee with a multinational company, relation manager in international sales, marketing specialist in E-business.

Project-based learning
To enable students to do so, the school has developed a system of project-based learning in which students carry out a number of projects dealing with different aspects of the marketing and management practice. In groups of approximately six students, they execute the tasks and assignments involved in the projects. In doing so they learn to search and study the relevant literature, to look for the required information (desk research) and to execute field research, if necessary.

By working in teams, students learn how to co-operate, how to participate in meetings, to plan activities and to execute them according to the plan. They learn to develop their leadership skills and to control the quality of the products and processes involved. Finally they learn how to present their results to the lecturers and / or companies.

The lecturers have a different role as well. They take coaches rather than teachers. They take care of the supporting and facilitating activities such as designing integrated projects, tutoring the project groups, training, assessing and giving lectures. In some cases the projects deal with case studies, others projects are carried out for actual companies.

In addition to the projects students are trained in specific skills. The skills training focuses on improving business communication skills, professional skills, personal skills and foreign language training.

International scope
The International Business and Management Studies programme aims at enabling students to develop a thoroughly international perspective. Students are required to spend at least one semester abroad, either studying at a university or doing a business placement. The course will be offered completely in English, which allows foreign students to attend the course as well.
